I also never decice what book to read till I've finished my current book. But while reading the current book I'm look things over and picking likely candidates and putting them on my Kindle. I usually have 20 or 30 books on my Kindle but those change day to day. Maybe 1/3 of them are books I'm sure I'll read in the next few months and the other 2/3 are maybes and they keep right on changing.

Yes I do plan but I never, or almost never, decide till it's time to read something. The few exceptions are when there's a new book by a favorite author. Since a lot of my favorite authors are no longer living that doesn't happen a lot. The few dead writers who keep on writing, such as Robert Ludlum, don't interest me.

I rarely read series as such. I'll read books that are part of a series but never if they're too inter-related.

I do re-read a lot of books but never within a couple of years. Usually 4 or 5 years later.

Anyway 20 to 30 works for me.
