An alternative when using Safari is to uncheck the option to automatically open "safe" downloaded files in the Safari General preferences pane. This is my config and I've had no problems downloading the jb files using Safari.
BTW, md5 is available through the OS X terminal but that's probably too technical a method for many to use.
