. I use KindleUnpack mostly because it's a lot faster than a conversion. One caveat, though: it will also leave all internal HTML files intact, even if the book is just one huge file. In my experience, my H2O doesn't like that, and gets very slow on such epubs.

I use the Quality Check plugin to check for 'oversized HTML files' (under Epub Structure) and do an epub-to-epub conversion on those to fix it.
