What is the likelihood of an H2O update? Maybe next year at this time?

That's a hard one to predict. It's possible that Kobo plan the Aura One as a replacement for the Aura H2O. If their market research showed that the main reason the 6.8" devices sold so well was that here wasn't a larger device, then the H2O will disappear.
But, they might also be planning to keep the three sizes. If that is the case, I could see a revamp of the H2O in a 12 to 18 months time to match the styling of the Aura One and use the same water-proofing. The extra storage is easy to add by just changing the internal SD card, so Kobo can do that any time (some Glo's have 4GB cards but they didn't expand the partition). Whether it gets the new lighting will depend on how well it actually works and if there are any problems with fitting it in the smaller case.
My guess would be they are planning to keep the Aura H2O for the next six months or whatever is their update cycle. At that time, they would look at it and the Glo HD and decide if the need the devices and whether to revamp or drop the lines. Or that they are perfect as is and just keep selling them.
