Kirstendomenech - what about trying calibre portable?
Why might that work you may well ask... Calibre portable is self contained, trying it would eliminate/identify the calibre configuration data in your %appdata% directory as source of the problem
- If it worked then the configuration data in your %appdata% directory is almost certainly the source of the problem
- If it didn't work then the cause of the problem almost certainly lies elsewhere, probably another application
In which case I would disable everything possible in the Task Manager Startup tab and restart Windows.
If that didn't solve the problem I would then try restarting Windows Safe Mode with no network.
