a) Factory Reset
b) Install the latest update (v2 5.8.2)
c) De-Register then Re-Register the device
d) Reboot the Kindle
The net effect - not only did it not solve the problem it also removed all my book covers once the books were re-downloaded to my Kindle after the Factory Reset. I have about 150 books on my Kindle all from Amazon and all directly downloaded to my Kindle via 3g. I hung up on the "Kindle Specialist." I called back the next day 8/9/16 and the Kindle Specialist told me this is an Amazon sever problem and not my Kindle. Amazon will call me when the problem is fixed. It is now 8/17/16 and I have not heard anything from Amazon. I don't think Amazon will ever be able to fix this problem.
Is there another solution for me to get the book covers? Any help would sure be appreciated. If anyone does have a solution then please provide step by step instructions with any software that you recommend. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8500 Desktop.

Well that lets us know it wasn't user error.
Sorry being on Amazon's side, I don't think there is anything to do.
Now do not expect an immediate response from Amazon. It may be a week or two,
In the meantime, I guess you could use list view and not worry about covers.
