My gripe is attempts at one-size-fits-all UIs that can be viewed on anything you happen to use. The UI for a tablet tends not to scale well to a really large screen. I looked at, and passed on, the Unity UI Ubuntu now uses as the default for Ubuntu Linux installations. Fortunately, Linux doesn't stick you with the distro vendor's default. You can download and install something else instead, and there are a lot of something elses. (I have Gnome Classic, Lxde, XFCE and Enlightenment installed here aside form Unity, and can pick which to use from the Login dialog.)
