Kobo has always released new firmware for the new devices when they are available. But, the issue is going to be the same as the other devices. The first batch of the devices have probably already been made. The factory firmware will have been created before Windows 10AU was released and hence will probably not work. So anyone who buys one of these and doesn't do a WiFi set up will be stuck if they use the updated Win10.
For the existing devices, it depends on how Kobo want to handle it. Sometimes they don't release the firmware to existing devices at the same time as the new devices. They seem to like to do this if there is new function and they want to make the new devices seem "special" for a while. Or simply to make sure the new users have a good experience with updating. Other times they release to existing devices a little earlier so that they are updated first. As no one has a real idea of what will be in the next release, or is on the new devices, we don't know what Kobo are likely to do.
