Hi all again,
I was very very disappointed to come back to this thread and see that those were hazing the "Inktelligent" are still at it. If I had done this behaviour and someone told me, I would honestly hide my head in shame for maybe a day or two.
So very, very wrong that someguy decides to put in all the effort to make this and then only has nitpicking and extremly negative comments thrown back at him.
Let me start with the latest argument that "Inktelligent" posted his in comment and than "Cinisajoy" responded.
I agree that "Inktelligent" should check his video more carefully before saying that the "full range" comment does not exist. But, after saying this, I have to say that I believe most of his other comments are true and valid points. "Cinisajoy" user should be more careful if she is going to claim the outrage over literal comments on Inktelligent video...it does raise questions of if she really is literal and this is why she (I admit, I am making assumption here and apologies if gender is wrong) is annoyed or if she is just nitpicking for the point of doing so.
Personally, I find it hard to accept "JSWolf" and "Cinisajoy" arguments that the video is a "misrepresentation" and "misleading". It is true that, near the end of the video, the writing shown says that a full range of e-reader sizes from 6-13.3 inch is shown, but, personally, when I saw this I had the reaction that he means the full range of sizes he is showing in the video, because only then is he showing them all at the one time. While you can say that some people might find this misleading, I don't really think this is likely here. In his first post on this thread, "Inktelligent" said clearly that ths video was meant to give a "better idea", like he said in his most recent comment. Then, if you click on his link, the video description on you tube says that the video is "to give you a better understanding of some of the popular size ranges for e-readers!". Already, to me this is pretty clear that he is not promising to show every sizze of e-reader ever made, just some of the popular sizes...which he does do. Then, to top it off, writing on screen in "Inktelligent"s video says "What follows is a size comparison review of e-reader models from 6 inch to 13.3 inch screen size". This also seems very clear to me.
That makes this the third message "Inktelligent" has said about his video by the time you get to it and makes it very specific and clear that he is only showing a general screen size range. Severl other users have also said this in their comments that they found the message clear. It is only after all of this that you see the "full range" comment in the video. I think that if you are trying to argue that people are going to make serious mistakes in their understanding based on this video...you are trying too much to argue this...almost a little suspiciously hard to make this case.
Besides, I have not seen any other video like this one which compares such a broad range of e-reader sizes at one time. I think people would be better served by having one video at least to see the size difference than to to not have any video at all. So I do not think the "misrepresentation" arguement holds up at all!
Anyway, even if this was the concern, couldn't you mput it more nicely and in a civil way? First thing said, following the use of the word "ghastly" by a moderator which is also shocking, about this "concern" was the "JSWolf" user who says "This video is seriously wrong". As I said above, I do not see the evidence for this...I don't see how anybody could. As i said in my last post here, I suspect other reasons for use of such condeming words so early on by the "JSWolf" user in this case. Even, if the user really felt that way...could he say it in a more civil way? Forums are supposed to be about helping...user to user. Helping can, of course, include disagreements....but put in civil terms. What would be wrong about saying "I disagree with what you showed in this video because of...." Why start off so mean sounding and saying "seriously"? It isn't even true...by any measurement of what you think. At worst, the video is "incomplete" NOT "seriously wrong", especially given all the times he clearly states that this is meant as general video. After all, as i said before, he did not even have to do this but did so anyway, and i think, probably helped people in his actions. And, I think that the "Dr. Drib" moderator did not do anyone any service by rubber stamping what "JSWolf" said....it can be seen by others as a green light that the mean spirit of the comment is ok and is totaly right and so forth....which, just is not true.
This bring me to the last point. Dr. Drib...you are a moderator....but why would you say things like that if you did videos they would be "as bad as his" and that yours "would be worse than his"? Both things suggest to people that "Inktelligent" videos are so bad. Why do you think they are bad? Are they grainy or poorly made? What is your evidence for saying these things? I don't think they are at all bad, I actually have really liked them and have foud them to be very useful in learning about what some other e-reader devices can do. Even if I didn't think they were good videos, you as a moderator, while definitely having rights to your opinion on these things, have a responsibility to keep neutrality until the conversation or actions by one user jeopardize the friendly naature of the forum. I just can not figure out your actions here...they run against what a moderatorr should be doing. A good moderator should rise above the other users. That is why it is so sad to see one pile in on comments that, to my mind, just have little to no evidence to support them.
Inktelligent, if you even are bothering to come on this forum anymore, I still think you are generally right and correct in what you have said. I woulld have liked that others here had extended you the kindness and place of openess that a forum should be!
