He was pretty impressive mathematician as well. But a lot of his work really helped establish analytic philosophy (along with Wittgenstein). Of course, since then philosophy departments (in the English speaking world at least) have been terribly irrelevant places (imo.) Well, you know.... irrelevant for philosophy.

Epistemology just bores the hell out of me!
