So, the federal government didn't honor, in the past, the caveat that Texas could exit the Union if it wanted to?

I don't know why my Texas history is so weak. Looks like elementary schools that I was in in Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky would have covered it. ha (actually, it seems like I learned about the history of none of those three states--I moved from one state to another before a school year that it was going to be in the curriculum, a time or two. By the time that I started elementary school in Kentucky, one of the earlier grades had already covered Kentucky history. My sister may have fared better; in fact, she may have hit it just right and got Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky history!).
The only way one learns a state history is by being in that state in junior high.
