Thanks, Cinisajoy. Flipped the Wifi back on my Oasis, dragged in the update 5.8.1, ejected then this comes up on the screen: "Update Error-- invalid update file have been loaded onto your device. Please go to www.amazon.com/device support to access the Kindle Software Update page...

I'm looking to find the URL for the software update you mentioned in spoiler #7 but when i click on the Download Software Update, it just pulls the install file.

Can I just Update the Kindle OTA instead of doing it manually? (perhaps an idiotic question. Apologies in advance)
