I either forgot or didn't know to begin with that that applied to Win 7.

If I had Win 7 I might be tempted to stay with it. Personally, I prefer it over Win 10. But Microsoft will "support" (with upgrades, bug fixes, etc.) an OS for only so long. After that happens, getting adequate security, protection, etc. is a little dicey.
