Clips were honestly never intended to be run from within Book View.

The "why" is because clips are not the same as the gui formatting buttons (and because as I mentioned above, clips--especially
html-tag-inserting clips--were never intended to be used in Book View). Do you not see the irony (or the potential danger) of using Book View to "
just insert some HTML tags in the file"? What you're trying to do practically screams "
please do me in Code View!"

We'll look into the possibilty, but we may also look into disabling all Clip functionality in Book View, too. Book View is for text; Code View is for tags.
