I'm of the same mindset. My 16 yo car has finally gone to the great scrapyard in the sky after being run into the ground (too expensive to fix after failing the MOT).

Now have a recent pre-registered (read "used") hybrid automatic, which I'm very happy with and hope to be for the many years to come.
