Are the books on your Sony ePub? or PDF or LRF?
ePub works great on Kobo's. They'd have to be converted with Calibre for a Kindle. PDF's will work on both, although PDF isn't generally an ideal format for such devices. LRF was a Sony only format and would need to be converted.
There have been reports of detection/USB issues in the anniversary beta version of Windows 10, but I know of no problems with the current regular release.
