I am on Windows and Debian, and as you say, it does not yet work on Windows. It does, however, work just fine on Debian at this time, so I do not think that there should be any reason that it will not work on Ubuntu now? I was able to run top on the OpenInkPot Linux system and see what processes were running, but that is all that I have really tried so far.
