Is there any way to check your progress in a book without engaging Page Flip (in iOS app)? I'd just like to know how far along I am without seeing all the pages. I'm not against Page Flip, but don't need to see it all the time.

To me it is a clear improvement: you can actually look before you leap. Before, you had to trust that the little dot on the progress bar was where you wanted to navigate to, and these 'previous location' indicators could be too close for a tap to resolve which you wanted.
