Calibre no longer sees new books and can't add them

In the Documents folder on my computer I have a folder named My Books, where I store all the books I download from the many different sources I get books from. I have a few thousand books in this folder.

About 15 minutes ago I added three more. Typically what I do at this point is to open Calibre, then click Add books > Add books from a single directory, sort the books by date added, and import the three most recent ones.

Calibre can no longer do that. The most recent books Calibre can detect in this folder are from Christmas Eve of 2013, and the software counts a grand total of 182 ebooks present. Windows says the file count in that folder is just above 15K.

Calibre 2.62 and no changes to software that I can think of. This just happened today and though it a seems that my books are on the computer. Calibre just can't see them anymore.

How do I fix this?
