For the record: the soft hyphen entities weren't being "removed." They were being converted to their unicode equivalent characters. Which can't be seen (though they still behave as soft hyphens are supposed to).

As to   being converted to &#160, you'll have to provide some detailed steps to reproduce it. I don't experience this issue, myself (unless you're talking about an EPUB3--where named entities aren't valid in the first place).

Since you were quickly able to figure out what the Preserve Entities feature was for, I'd say the current name suffices.
