In case you're wondering why some converted books show up as personal docs and others as "real books." That, too, is controlled by metadata entries.
If you buy a book from Amazon, it'll add ASIN metadata entries and download a cover thumbnail to the device. If you convert an epub, it won't have these ASIN metadata entries and the book will show up with a personal banner.
If you manage your books with Calibre, Calibre will automatically add fake ASINS and generate cover thumbnails when you synchronize your books.
