Good thoughts, if only because reading the directions tells you exactly that. The universal jailbreak "tar.gz" REQUIRES a FACTORY firmware on your kindle, and an upgrade (or factory reset) to a non-factory firmware removes ";installHtml" support.

Now go back and restart the downgrade jailbreak procedure from the beginning, and do the steps EXACTLY in the sequence provided.
