The respective procedures worked on both a PW2 and a KV. But, weird thing - upon initial update to 5.8.1, the covers for books (not docs) wouldn't show up in cover view, even once downloaded. After the Kindles downloaded an update for the Chinese dictionaries, it started to work. I don't think this is a jb-related thing but I was nervous for a few minutes before it started working.
Also one bit that I don't think was in the OP, that I read the official KUAL OP and comports with my experience - KUAL won't work on KV 5.5.x, so if you decide to use it before upgrading to a newer FW, don't be surprised if it doesn't open - it doesn't mean that the jb didn't take.
