No, I used those same orientations ALL the Time.... Whether I was charging or not.
With the old K3, I had a cover... I preferred NOT to fold it back behind the kindle. (I never broke its spine so it would fold back) so my typical reading position was with the kindle like a laptop. With the cover positioned like a keyboard with the reading area propped up like a laptop monitor. This way if I was holding it, my hand was touching the leather cover (which is easily cleaned of sweat, oils and dirt that might transfer from my hand.) and not the felt inner lining (which was not easily cleaned) that when closed would be in contact with the Kindle screen.
My Current cover flaps in the wind so to speak because I still prefer to have my hand in contact with the (plastic?) book cover and not the inside lining of the flap if you fold it all the way back...
