Happens to me on my PW2 as well. At first I was very concerned, but either closing and reopening the sleep cover or as IFixKindles posted--adjusting the brightness will turn the light on as well. It's happened ever since I bought my PW2--which was quite a few years ago now. Only happens once in a while, but seems to happen more when I have my Kindle in cheaper covers (as opposed to the official Amazon cover).
I'm pretty sure I've had this happen with my Voyage once or twice as well--no where near the frequency of the PW2, though.
