Sorry to hear about your dogs -- and in particular your Shadow -- Katsunami.
My Shadow was a mostly black German Shepherd. Probably not "pure" but very close. He was a rescue and had obviously been neglected but once he got used to being in a steady home he really did well. He also died of cancer -- hemangiosarcoma, a very aggressive cancer. He was gone only two to three weeks after the diagnosis.
