The size of this file suggests you are trying to patch firmware version 3.17.0 using the patch for version 3.19.5761. This won't work, the versions must match exactly.

Edit: The libnickel.so.1.0.0 file in version 3.19.5761 should be 14928256 bytes.

Edit2: Just to be clear, check which firmware version your H2O is running on the Settings > Device information page, and make sure that both the firmware you download from the "Direct Links to Kobo Firmware" thread, and the kobo_patch_*.zip file you download from the corresponding "Instructions for patching firmware..." thread match that version exactly.
