- you can edit 'subjects' in the ePub content.opf file using the calibre ebook editor. Sometimes I want to remove them, in that case I use Sigil's metadata editor which has a one-click delete, I prefer using it rather than editing the content.opf where I might stomp on the spine or manifest.
FWIW - one reason I avoid cluttering the "Tags" column with housekeeping indicators is that they end up as Subjects - e.g. Reading is a town in the UK.
