I think you are talking about the list dialog shown when "Choose items to display" is tapped. I assume that the text and the background are the same color.
It this also true when you go to Settings / Grouping drawer / Group/sort on custom columns?
For info for readers of this thread, this is an e-ink device, similar to the Energy Sistems Ereader Pro.
