Developing Qt apps for Kobo in 2016?

Hi folks,

I'm thinking I might want to start trying to develop a little something for my Kobo using Qt, however I'm sort of a little lost as to where to get started. There seems to be information scattered over a number of threads, over a number of years.

Is anyone able to state what tools I need to start developing on the latest Kobo firmware?

What version of Qt? What Qt libraries are present on the devices? What tools to cross compile? Do I need special drivers?

Then launching. I assume something like kute/kfmon can be used to launch. Do I need to kill Nickel etc?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
