Good question, I did not test this on other operating systems. However, my tutorial is just reiterating what Branch Delay's tutorial does. I don't follow any different steps than what the tutorials which are posted here already do (although I did add downgrading steps).
I can't see it being different in another OS. Most of the steps pertaining to an OS are just 'drag and drop this and that onto the Kindle'. The rest take place on the Kindle device itself. So we should be good there.
