I've spent some time with a voyage in my home (as opposed to at best buy) and what I observe is the light looks even in bright daylight but any time ambient light is lower than the front light, I can see the scones at the bottom (normal with every front lit kindle) but has a gradient (not seen on my PW2). It's dark and gray at bottom, lighter and bluer in middle, and darker and yellower at top. I have the voyage's light at 12, PW2 at 14 (voyage's leds are a little brighter, or maybe my PW2 is just getting old). I never read in the dark.

I can discern the better resolution, so that's nice, but I find the gradient a bit distracting, so overall it's kind of a wash for me. I imagine if you flip the gradient so it's horizontal, that'll make it worse.
