I picked up the book the last time it was offered. It gives an simple overview of events with black and white photos of the people and events discussed. No closeups but there are dead men in some of the photos and discussions of death. It's definitely an illustrated history book covering a battle, not a picture book for tiny children.

I'd say it would be appropriate for a child old enough to be interested in military history but as always it depends on the child.
