I think it was that book and either the one before or after it that hooked me on the series. I eventually didn't like where it went and stopped reading, but I agree that that's one of her best.

Don't know if either of you like older romantic suspense, but there's an Elizabeth Lowell series ("Donovans" - starts with Amber Island) that is one of my favorites. Pearl Cove was my absolute favorite of the bunch. It's been awhile, so I could be wrong, but I think this is old-school enough that you don't get a lot of the hero's thoughts the way you do in today's books. You're left to decide if he's really a good guy or just an alpha-jerk. Some of her books go too far into the jerk category for my tastes, but I do remember loving the Donovans.
