Running the wrong u-boot seems a bit deeper than "soft-bricked". The eMMC harware is not destroyed if u-boot runs as well as it does. To me, that says "wrong firmware" is likely the cause of the described problems.
Meanwhile, minutes, hours, days and weeks are burned attending to these elusive/evasive threads and posts by damon12...I hope staphoent does not get his kindle blacklisted by sharing the full firmware image as originally requested in another thread.
