In my current area, we occasionally see cows (bovines, anyway) out wandering around before someone calls their owners to come and get them. They don't particularly spook me anymore.

I lived on two farms that raised beef cattle (ahh Northern Virginia). All you had to do was go BOO! and it would have scattered.
Unless it was a bull. Then it might not have worked.
We used to watch them fight. Pretty crazy.
