That is what I tried to say. The small u-boot loaded but is failing to read the extended CSD configuration parameters from the eMMC. Flashing the wrong (small, stripped) u-boot image could cause this behavior. This conversation has gone on a long time in a bunch of threads (and irc) and we still lack important details about what caused this situation, so we can begin to understand how to fix it.
Running the wrong u-boot seems a bit deeper than "soft-bricked". The eMMC harware is not destroyed if u-boot runs as well as it does. To me, that says "wrong firmware" is likely the cause of the described problems.
