Hmm... That sounds suspicious. If changes to an upstart script, that could be what bricked it. Even using a non-conformant "boot logo" image could do that. And by "boot logo", are we taking about the "boy under the tree" image? Changes to rootfs must be done with great care, and only changes to the WRONG rootfs should damage diags.
