More research is needed. At the moment it appears that the new page flip feature is only available for books in KFX format. I tried side loading some KFX books to the Kindle for iOS app version 5.0. I was able to activate page flip for those books, but the page thumbnails were shown as blank for most pages.
Perhaps this can be fixed, but at the moment it looks like page flip will only be available on books purchased and downloaded directly to devices from Amazon.
