Ok, so if it was open just to add screen protector is fine I think.
Regarding the root... you can check if yours is rooted with an application like "root checker", if it works. I will try to use it today evening from home just to confirm it's working on our device.
BTW, root procedure is generally reversible and in such cases I have never heard that warranty was refused
Also when keeping root where it is some companies still grant warranty, even if in theory rooting equals to void warranty.
