50JUN is now back to working, in Canada & the US, at least. It stopped in Canada sometime yesterday evening (just as I was about to checkout
) and I didn't think it was really going to do any good, but I used the chat function to notify Kobo customer support that their 3-day promo had ended on the 2nd day and sent a Feedback as well, and when I checked again earlier this morning I thought that would be it since it still wasn't working after about 7 hours, even though they still had the 50% off promo banner up on the frontpage (since replaced with the Emerging Authors).
But they seem to have fixed it now, who knows for how long, and I was able to apply it to my intended cart contents just now and get my books at half-off.
And I spot-checked in the US and it seems to apply there as well, though I didn't checkout.
I was feeling pretty disgruntled last night and planning to clear everything out of my cart except for the 2 non-couponable sale books from favourite authors that I absolutely wanted to get once I woke up, since I wasn't expecting Kobo to do anything about it. Especially since they took down the promo banner, which looked like their way of quietly ignoring the problem.
But since they actually did go and fix and reinstate the code in time, I think I'm going to reward them and myself with a bit more of a splurge,
pour encourager les autres.
