I finally got it working again. Here's how:
1 - Charge Kindle via wall charger for a few hours
2 - Treating Tequila menu gently and slowly, navigate to and select "Exit, Reboot, Disable..."
3 - Disable diags
4 - Reboot
I'm not quite sure how to close a thread, but I'm done with it.
