Hi,
there is no full recovery partition. There is a recovery screen, where the little robot is lying on its back with open belly, this will automatical update if a suitable ROM image is present (can't remember if this has to be on sd or in the internal memory, probably booth). The problem with wrong firmware is in most cases the touchscreen, which isn't working. Hard reset will not help in your case, flashing the right ROM probably will.

Edit: I forgot: nobody got the OTG working without a powersource. Check it, Andy is using a powered OTG cable.
