Oh and I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. Now I am sure if we had 150 years, you might could learn.

Just out of curiousity, have you ever tried working with plastic canvas and yarn? It is basically one simple stitch.
Note that thought wasn't I make it look easy but because I could do it, it must be easy.
Also do not try the fashion doll dream camper. That thing was a nightmare.
I like it because on simple projects it is fast.
