This book, originally published in 1904, is based on lectures originally given at Glasgow and Oxford Universities on the subject of Shakespeare's four great tragedies: Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. The author, A.C. Bradley, was formerly professor of poetry at Oxford University. The book has very extensive footnotes, and a series of longer notes covering topics of interest arising from the main lecture material.
A fascinating read for anyone interested in the subject matter.
Enjoy!
