No Havent taken it back to factory. I deleted the Audibon Collections re-downloaded the apps but not the rest.
IF it wont go back to Factory & re-load the updates again then I don't know how going to factory will help. When it finally DL the current update I received 4 Notices that they DL. So that's 3 updates too many stuck on it.
I love going out into the woods so see many kinds of mushrooms, that is why I have the app.

I still think you have a REAL problem with the Fire...maybe an app was installed wrong. Who knows, but your are still having problems. I know apps take time to install but after months of frustration I would tether my Fire to my computer and move PDF's and my book files to a folder on the computer and then do FACTORY.

You made a statement earlier that you got an update that would move books to your SD card weeks before the update to very latest update. I DID NOT get that portion and wondered how you have received it. I realize you still have about 6 months your HD is a year old, but think you don't have that much to loose by doing FACTORY. If the updates take that long then back to Best Buy with some ammo for them to either fix or replace.

I had a horrible experience with BB ruining a laptop such a l o n g story, was under warranty when I took it in BUT by 3rd time they said it was fix it was no longer under warranty. They actually broke some of the plastic vents on the bottom...CD rom would not work and I took it in for a touch screen problem that was never fixed.. Since that time I NO longer spend my money there!

My bottom line is go FACTORY if you come up with the outrageous 17G of OS, HD 10 is BAD...raise lots of noise or contact BB home office, I think it is in MN.
