Dad was Irish. Mom was a transplanted Brit. I think I got it from both sides.

I had several root canals as a preface to getting crowns. They weren't what I'd do for fun, but they weren't major bothers either. I didn't require being put to sleep. Enough Novocaine did the job. (I did talk funny for a bit as part of the lips and tongue were paralyzed. I was put in mind of an old Bloom County cartoon strip where smarmy lawyer Steve Dallas has dental work done, just before an important date. The local anesthetic is powerful enough to have him drooling with his tongue hanging out of his mouth and it won't wear off till the following day...)
