Well, that won't really work, since I WANT to update Metadata, just not add a cover file that I don't use or reference in any way.

**I should note that this comes up mainly with my personal books and fanfiction books (that's what I'm working on now, so it's why I noticed) I add my own cover to those because I have Calibre set to the Cover Grid, but I don't really want/need a cover file in there. I've been lucky that 95%+ of my bought books so far do have their own cover.jpg and cover.xhtml, and I leave those be.

I just don't understand the point I suppose. If a book does not have a cover image, that added file is still going to just be the first page, isn't it? Unless some devices crash or don't work properly without it, in which case I understand the necessity of adding it in.

Until Kovid's fix comes into effect, I'll just have to remember to manually delete the file when saving
