I've purchased several Kobo readers, most recently 2 Glo HDs, and have never had a problem with any of them. I've never purchased direct from Kobo though. I was able to purchase from local bookstores, and more recently I ordered from Chapters in Canada for the Glo HDs. Chapters will ship to the US and the total price turns out less than ordering from Kobo.
