Katie, I think maybe the best thing to do would be to revert to factory. Then IF the updates takes an unreasonable time. I would take it back to Best Buy and demand the Geek Squad take a look. I have all 7 Audubon apps plus Sibley Birds,iBird Pro, and Birds of NA. All the Audubon apps and other birding apps have large files to download and I understand they will take time to download and Install, but IF the FACTORY reset would fix the problem that would fix the problem. I think without the factory reset you may be just spinning your wheels to more frustration. Like I said if the updates take an hour per update that would be w a y to long so back to Best Buy.
